Why a LEGO® colour guide?
LEGO® has its own name for every shade, and shops use the BrickLink numbering to tell them apart. This guide lists the colours that are actually in our parts catalogue, with the same swatch you see on the product page.
Colours that get mixed up
Old Gray or Bluish Gray?
LEGO® switched its greys around 2003 and 2004. Old Light Gray and Dark Gray were replaced by Light Bluish Gray and Dark Bluish Gray. Both still turn up in used lots.
Brown or Reddish Brown?
The same switch: the old Brown was replaced by Reddish Brown. Vintage sets sometimes mix the two.
What are the Sand colours?
Sand Red, Sand Blue, Sand Green and Sand Purple are muted versions of the primary colours.
What does Trans- mean?
Trans- is the transparent version of a colour, like Trans-Red or Trans-Yellow. Use the transparent filter to see them all together.
